José Serna Serrano was born in 1981 in Murcia, Spain. He obtained his Aerospace Engineering degree in 2004 from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and his Ph. D. degree in 2013 from the same institution. He is Associate Professor (Tenure Track) (PCUD1, Profesor Contratado Doctor ANECA) at the University Centre of Defence at the Spanish Air Force Academy. In this institution, he is the responsible professor for Aerospace related subjects ("Fundamentals of Flight" 3rd year, "General Aircraft Knowledge and Avionics" 4th year) since his incorporation. Additionally, he collaborates in the course about "Energetic Techonology" (2nd year) with a didactic unit focused on Jet Engines. He is also responsible of the Aerodynamic Laboratory, whose main facility is an own design blow-down open wind tunnel for research and educational studies. This aerodynamic facility is equipped with advanced fluid diagnostic techniques: stereo PIV, hot wire, pressure probes, ... in which Serna has a deep background as a consequence of his Ph.D. studies in Madrid and a research stay in Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2014. His research topics are experimental aerodynamics, boundary layer, flow stability, and nanofluids.
